GSC Families,

On January 3, 2022, the Ontario Government updated their Covid-19 guidelines, which was followed by a response from Ontario Soccer. As a result, Ontario Soccer will return to a modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Re-Open Plan that includes a pause on all soccer activities until January 26, 2022, or until further published health information becomes available. Per these directives from our governing organizations, Georgetown Soccer Club is pausing all soccer activities effective immediately and will continue to follow updates as they are communicated by Ontario Soccer.

We will make further announcements once more information is known regarding our return to the field.

For reference, the link to the Ontario Soccer announcement is included.

2021 Soccer Season Update

Sunday, May 02, 2021

Hello GSC Families,

We hope that your family is staying safe and healthy during this time and we can not wait to see you all back at the field. The GSC is continuing to work towards offering both our House League and Rep programs this summer in a safe environment. We expect that in the near future Premier Ford will be announcing plans moving forward after this current lockdown and we are hopeful that this will include our players being allowed back on the fields to return to the training portion of return to soccer.

What are we doing to be ready?

  • We have hired and trained field marshals to ensure public health regulations are being followed to ensure the health and safety of our players and our community

  • We are updating our return to train guide (available on our website) to keep up with guidance from our governing bodies, the Town of Halton Hills and our local public health unit

For House League:

  • We have uniforms, balls and sanitizer ready for the teams which are ready to be distributed. A big thank you to Canadian Tire who made sanitizer product donations.  Thank you also to all of our wonderful house league sponsors who have stepped forward to pledge that they will support our league once again this year

  • Field requirements have been secured with the Town to support our season moving forward with a tentative start date of July 5th

  • Registration for house league continues to be open with no payment required at this time

  • House League teams will be involved in "Bubble play," where they will play in loops of 4 or more teams, not exceeding 50 players total and will include some restrictions/limitations on spectators.

  • We are still planning to offer summer programs such as our U3 and U4 programs

For Rep:

  • Plans are being finalized for rep and development teams to Return to Train once the latest Stay at Home order and Lockdown have been lifted

  • As previously communicated, any lost training due to lockdowns will be reflected in the final instalment of the 2021 rep fee which is currently being updated

  • League information is not yet available, but GSC is in close communications with soccer’s governing bodies to ensure that information is communicated as soon as it becomes available

  • Once teams return to train, all safety protocols, including sanitization practices will remain in place for the protection of our players, coaches and team officials

  • Several of our rep/development teams are actively seeking new players to add to their rosters and contact information for the teams and the coaches will be posted on the GSC website so that new players wishing to join those teams can contact coaches directly

Where do we go from here?

As soon as the Provincial government makes an announcement that we can return to sport, we are ready to move forward.

For House League:

  • When applicable, the Club Administrator will notify registered players, who will be asked to complete their payment for the season

  • We will then connect with coaches, draft teams and disperse equipment and PPE

  • Closer to the start of the season we will finalize schedules and share this information with families and coaches

For Rep:

  • Return to Train schedules will be finalized and communicated for our return to training on grass fields

  • Potential new players who have been invited to try out for a spot on a team where there are vacancies will be contacted and given details about registration

As you can see there are many moving parts to getting our season started and we cannot move forward with finalizing our plans until we receive further information from the various governing bodies and from the Province.

For more information on how the 2021 House League season will operate, please refer to our previous post on our website at georgetownsoccerclub.com under House League then Outdoor House League 2021 where we provided information about the look of the HL program for the 2021 season.

If you have any questions that were not addressed in this post, please reach out to info@georgetownsoccerclub.com and we would be happy to try and answer your question.

Pause Effective April 3, 2021

Thursday, April 01, 2021

Georgetown Soccer Community,

Given the recent announcements by the Government of Ontario and Ontario Soccer, all in person soccer related activities must be paused as of 12:01am on Saturday April 3, 2021 and will be in effect "for at least four weeks". Please see the announcements at the following links: https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/60986/ontario-implements-provincewide-emergency-brake and https://www.ontariosoccer.net/news_article/show/1155764

We are saddened that we will not be able to continue our outdoor practices during this period but fully support the decisions made by the province and our governing bodies to ensure the continued health and safety of our community.

The GSC will continue to work closely with Ontario Soccer, the Peel Halton Soccer Association and the Town of Halton Hills to ensure that we align with all guidelines and restrictions regarding a safe return to organized sports. We continue to make plans to operate our 2021 outdoor house league season along with programs such as U3, U4 and U7 as long as they are permitted.

For our rep and development players, the missed training during this pause will be reflected in total fee for the 2021 season and the third instalment of that fee.

We encourage everyone to connect with the GSC through our social media to keep up to date on any updates and to showcase any drills players are doing at home to stay active and have fun!

We hope that everyone stays safe in this difficult period and that we see everyone back at the field in the near future.

Thank you,

GSC
