REP PROGRAMS
The Georgetown Soccer Club provides two levels of play for the youth of Georgetown
Development
Development is a league based on the principles of the province-wide Long Term Player Development strategy (LTPD) and includes our U8 to U12 age groups. The focus of LTPD is on development and skill acquisition and, as such, there are no scores kept in games and no standings. These teams typically practice twice per week and play in Saturday festivals throughout Halton & Peel. PHDL (Peel Halton Development League) and Rep players no longer participate in indoor and outdoor house league.
Rep.
Rep is a U13 to U18 competitive program meaning that there are standings kept from the game results and that teams are promoted or demoted on an annual basis based on their season results. The GSC's Rep teams are part of the Youth Peel Halton District League (PHDL) or the Golden Horseshoe Soccer League (GHSL). Our governing district is the Peel Halton Soccer Association (www.peelhaltonsoccer.com).
Fall/Winter Indoor Rep/Dev Leagues, ie, Paramount (Hershey) or Futsal
A number of GSC coaches will be entering their teams into one of the various local rep/dev indoor soccer leagues for the indoor season. As a club, we have encouraged them to do so if they feel it will help their team’s development and if they have the interest from the players. If your child is offered a spot or picked to train with a team that is entering a rep/dev indoor league, their spot on the outdoor team will not be compromised if they choose not to play indoors. GSC coaches are aware that indoor league participation is completely optional for their players.
That being said, for teams that are participating in any indoor league, in addition to the league fee, there is a $40 registration fee that each player must pay to the Georgetown Soccer Club. This fee must be paid online through the registration system once requested by the team coach.
GEORGETOWN SOCCER CLUB APPOINTS CARLO RIVAS AS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
A NEW ERA BEGINS AT GEORGETOWN SOCCER CLUB
Georgetown Soccer Club is proud and excited to announce that Carlo Rivas has been appointed as the Club's new Technical Director.
Carlo brings an extraordinary level of experience, passion, and soccer knowledge to GSC. A former Canadian professional player, Carlo has competed at the highest levels of the game, representing clubs in Mexico and Chile, while also earning appearances with both the Canadian U-20 National Team and the Canadian Men's National Team. Throughout his playing career, he developed a reputation as a dynamic midfielder known for his technical ability, leadership, and relentless commitment to excellence.
Born in Toronto, Carlo's soccer journey took him from the renowned youth system of Cruz Azul in Mexico to the professional ranks of Chilean football with Deportes La Serena, Municipal Iquique, and Universidad de Concepción, where he captured the prestigious Copa Chile championship. His accomplishments on the field have provided him with invaluable experience that he now shares with the next generation of players.
Soccer excellence runs deep in the Rivas family. Carlo is the son of former Chilean World Cup midfielder Carlos Rivas, who represented Chile at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, and the grandson of Adán Godoy, one of Chile's most respected goalkeepers. Adán represented Chile at both the 1962 and 1966 FIFA World Cups. During the 1962 tournament, hosted in Chile, he was part of the historic Chilean squad that achieved athird-place finish, the highest result Chile has ever attained on the world stage. Growing up in a family immersed in international football at its highest level helped shape Carlo's understanding of the game, his competitive mindset, and his commitment to player development.
Following his professional playing career, Carlo transitioned seamlessly into coaching and player development. Through CR Soccer Academy and various high-performance programs across Ontario, he has spent years helping young athletes reach their potential while creating pathways for players to compete at higher levels. His dedication to developing technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and a winning mindset has earned him tremendous respect throughout the soccer community.
As Technical Director, Carlo will oversee the club's technical vision, coach development, player pathway programming, and long-term player development strategy. His leadership will play a critical role in elevating the standards of soccer at Georgetown Soccer Club and creating an environment where players, coaches, and teams can thrive.
"We are thrilled to welcome Carlo to Georgetown Soccer Club,"said Rob Ferlisi, GSC VP of REP. "His professional playing experience, coaching expertise, and passion for developing young athletes align perfectly with our vision for the future.
